Frequently Ask Questions

If you’ve ever left a doctor’s office feeling overwhelmed or confused about your health or next steps, naturopathic care can help fill in those gaps. NDs take the time to listen carefully, understand your unique experience, and connect all the pieces to give you clarity. What does that look like in practice? Thorough investigation: I dive deep—asking the right questions and running targeted lab work to get a clear picture of your health. Being heard: Your symptoms matter. I believe in validating your experience and combining that with the latest research to guide your care. Comprehensive plans: Every visit results in personalized recommendations—whether supplements, tailored nutrition, movement, or lifestyle changes. Lab data and evidence guide these plans to maximize success. Education and empowerment: You’ll gain meaningful insights and data about your body so you can take an active role in your health journey.

I work collaboratively with a wide network of medical doctors, specialists, and other healthcare providers to ensure you get the most well-rounded care possible.

When you choose naturopathic care, you get more than just advice—you get a partner in your health. I use evidence-based practices, lab testing, and clinical expertise to uncover what’s really going on beneath the surface. You’ll be empowered to understand your body and collaborate on a plan that fits your lifestyle and goals.

Before your appointment, you’ll receive detailed intake forms and an Authorization of Release to allow access to your previous labs and medical history. During your visit, we’ll explore your symptoms in depth and help you see how everything might be connected. You’ll leave with a clear plan that may include lab testing, supplements, diet and lifestyle recommendations, and helpful resources. We’ll discuss costs openly and tailor recommendations to fit your budget—no unnecessary extras. For virtual visits, if any physical testing is needed, I’ll help you get connected with a provider nearby.

Unfortunately, naturopathic services are not covered by OHIP. However, many private insurance plans and group benefits cover naturopathic care. If lab tests are recommended after your visit, you can take the list to your family doctor to see if they can order any tests on your behalf to help reduce your out-of-pocket costs.

I do not offer direct billing to insurance. Please note: supplements, labs, and other products usually cannot be direct billed. Instead, we provide detailed receipts so you can submit claims for reimbursement yourself.

Lab fees depend on your specific symptoms and the tests needed. Basic lab work usually starts around $300 but can increase based on what’s required. After your appointment, you’ll receive a detailed quote outlining costs for each test. You can always ask your family doctor if they’ll order some of the tests to reduce your expenses. If they do, just let us know and we’ll adjust your quote accordingly. If cost is a concern, tell your practitioner. We can prioritize the most important tests or spread them over several visits. Just keep in mind that labs charge a processing fee each time a requisition is issued, which will be added to your total.

After your appointment, your ND will send you a list of recommended tests with prices. Once you approve and pay, you’ll receive a requisition via email or you can pick it up in person. You’ll need to book an appointment at your nearest LifeLabs or Dynacare location and bring the requisition with you. You won’t pay LifeLabs or Dynacare directly at the time of testing—they bill us. Once your labs are done, the results are sent to us and uploaded to your secure patient file for me to review with you. If you get labs done through your family doctor, please send us the results so we can add them to your file.

Your supplement recommendations and details will be available in your patient portal. When you’re ready, you can purchase supplements through my online patient store: https://ca.fullscript.com/welcome/vpatel1599068039

Your initial visit will include a thorough review of your health history, intake forms, and your goals. Together, you and I will discuss a plan moving forward, including any recommended labs, supplements, products, or referrals. After your appointment, your treatment plan and any documents will be uploaded to your patient portal within 48 hours. For virtual appointments, referrals for necessary physical tests will be provided.

Payments are usually processed the same day using the credit card on file.

I use secure, privacy-compliant software for managing patient records and payments. Only our clinical team and authorized staff can access your files, ensuring your information stays confidential. If you have any concerns about privacy or data security, please let us know so we can address them.

Your appointment time is reserved just for you. Canceling late or missing an appointment means someone else loses the chance to be seen. Within 24 hours (or 1 business day) of your appointment: A cancellation fee of 100% of the visit cost applies. Half of this fee will be kept as credit for future services. Within 48 hours but more than 24 hours prior: A cancellation fee of 50% of the visit cost applies, retained as credit for future services. We understand that unexpected situations happen. Exceptions to cancellation fees include: Medical emergencies (documentation may be required). Illness (fever, vomiting, respiratory illness, etc.)—please give as much notice as possible.
